ABOUT ME

MEET KATHARINE GUTKOSKI
Hi! My name is Katharine. I am in the Class of 2026 at Fairfield University and I major in Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies (WGSS) & Theatre, and minor in Communication Studies. Women Talking is my capstone project for both of my majors.
This is a project I have been thinking about since sophomore year, when I first saw the movie Women Talking. I have always loved how empowered the women become by the end of the novel and movie. I wanted to share that female empowerment with everyone around me. I have also always loved how theatre makes people feel. Women Talking felt like the perfect combination of all my passions. This project has been a true culmination of my four years at Fairfield University.
As the first Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies major, I have had the opportunity to study all kinds of people. I have presented at two conferences. I have helped to shape the program’s honors society chapter as the Vice President. I have studied with amazing professors and passionate students. I have sat on panels and connected with incredible people. My passion for feminism and activism has flourished throughout my four years at Fairfield. The WGSS program has given me so much and I truly cannot thank the faculty enough.
As a theatre student, I have had the privilege to be part of the many different processes that a production goes through while being at Fairfield University. I’ve acted in full productions that are already published. I’ve been part of readings of plays that have never been heard before. I have designed sets and costumes in classes. I have built sets and hung lights. I have been the Front of House manager. Being part of each various piece of a production has taught me so much about the magic of theatre and how we all come together as a company to make that magic happen.
As a theatre artist, I have worked in multiple different spheres. I trained at North Andover School of Dance in Massachusetts from age two to eighteen and danced competitively for seven years in both team and solo routines of jazz, tap, musical theater, lyrical, & contemporary styles. I am also trained in classical ballet and pointe. I acted in high school with Fire Trail Theatre at Brooks School. In college, I have worked
with the Fairfield University Theatre Program as an actor, Front of House manager, Audience/Student Relations Production Intern, and now, Alumni Relations Production Intern and Program Ambassador. I have also worked as a teaching artist at Brooks School Summer Programs: Stages and Studios for five summers.
